SUMMARY:Sustainable Solutions Shaping the Construction Industry
DESCRIPTION:In line with Singapore’s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions\, the construction and materials sector is stepping up to play its part. \nThe objective of this panel discussion is to facilitate a collaborative dialogue on practical solutions and innovative approaches to advance sustainable construction practices\, aligning with Singapore’s broader sustainability goals. \nThe recent regulation from SGX recommends that climate reporting should be mandatory for all large companies. If implemented\, these will have an impact across the extensive supply chain that constitutes the built environment sector. \nTo discuss these issues and share her views on ESG reporting in the built environment sector\, we are privileged to have Ms Esther An\, Chief Sustainability Officer of City Developments Limited (CDL) and Committee Chair of the Singapore Reporting Advisory Council (SRAC). Ms An will elucidate CDL’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability\, as evidenced by its annual publication of the Integrated Sustainability Report. She will also share the implications that regulations are expected to have for the built environment sector and its supply chain. \nThe exchange of perspectives will also touch upon what general contractors and other industry participants are currently doing in the field of sustainability.

SUMMARY:Webinar: A Pathway to Circular Economy - Mass Balance Approach
DESCRIPTION:The world is producing twice as much plastic waste as two decades ago\, yet only 9% is recycled. Growing the circular economy – where products and materials are kept in circulation through processes that include reuse\, recycling and composting – is needed to stop waste from being produced in the first place and to tackle climate change and other global challenges such as biodiversity loss and pollution. \nTo fully unlock the potential of a circular economy\, we need to find ways to circulate all kinds of materials and substances. Industry is increasingly producing materials that mix both virgin fossil feedstock and renewable or recycled raw material feedstock. Mass balance can be applied to plastics to make it possible to track the amount of renewable and recycled materials in the value chain\, and attribute it. These can help to accelerate the transition to a bioeconomy and circular economy. \nJoin us for an insightful sharing session with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) organisation\, an independent multi-stakeholder initiative and leading third certification system supporting sustainable\, fully traceable\, deforestation free and climate-friendly supply chains\, to learn about mass balance approach.
