SUMMARY:The Power of Women in Conflict Resolution
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of International Women’s Day\, we are honoured to invite you to The Power of Women in Conflict Resolution\, a conversation that aims to shed light on the pivotal role women play in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. \nThe event will feature a panel discussion with the Ambassadors of Chile\, South Africa\, and Ukraine. \nAccording to the last data by the United Nations\, over 600 million women and girls lived in conflict-affected countries in 2022\, a 50% increase since 2017. Despite bearing the brunt of violent conflicts\, women’s representation in peace processes remains disproportionately low. In 2022\, women constituted only 16% of negotiators in active peace processes led or co-led by the UN\, a decline from previous years. This underrepresentation persists even though inclusive peace processes are more likely to result in lasting peace agreements. \nJoin this conversation where we will share what women’s nature brings to conflict resolution.

SUMMARY:Raising Ocean Pollution Awareness: a Dialogue Between GESS Students & European Businesses
DESCRIPTION:Ocean pollution is a critical global crisis\, with approximately 8 million metric tons of plastic entering our oceans annually—an amount projected to triple by 2040 if no action is taken. Beyond plastic\, other pollutants\, including oil\, toxic chemicals\, and heavy metals\, contaminate marine habitats\, threatening 700 marine species and impacting the estimated 3 billion people who depend on marine ecosystems for their livelihoods. With over 90% of coral reefs at risk by 2050 and an estimated $13 billion in annual economic damage\, the severity of ocean pollution cannot be overstated. This event will shine a light on how strategic partnerships and innovative programs can play a pivotal role in mitigating marine pollution and preserving biodiversity. \nEuroCham Singapore\, in collaboration with the German European School Singapore (GESS)\, is thrilled to host this event\, which brings together students and corporate leaders as part of GESS’s award-winning BeyondClassrooms Programme*. By providing insights into corporate-led sustainability initiatives\, this event will inspire both companies and future leaders to work together in discussing impactful solutions that protect our oceans and foster a sustainable future. \n*At GESS\, they understand that learning beyond the classroom is just as vital as the lessons within. That’s why they have created the award-winning BeyondClassrooms Programme\, offering students unique opportunities to explore\, discover\, and grow. By partnering with corporate leaders\, charities and organisations\, the Programme connects GESS students with diverse interests to real-world experiences that help them thrive. Recognised with two international school advancement awards in the past two years\, the BeyondClassrooms Programme is shaping the future—one opportunity at a time.

SUMMARY:Your Impact on Others: Authentic Self-Leadership to Inspire Teams
DESCRIPTION:Join the SAChamber for an exciting webinar on self-leadership to inspire teams with our esteemed speaker Mr Grant ‘Upbeat’ Bosnick. \nThe number one thing that stands in people’s way to grow\, change\, and develop is their ability to change their habits. The will is there but we have been brainwashed into thinking that changing our habits is difficult. \nBut what if we knew that change is easy if you have the right knowledge and the right tools? In Your Impact on Others: Authentic Self-Leadership to Inspire Teams\, Grant encourages you to understand behaviour from the ‘inside-out’ of neuroscience and how the brain works\, while also keeping an eye on the ‘outside-in:’ how we understand others and how others see us. \nHe makes the process easy by providing a change assessment that shows you where you personally need to focus\, and then with deliberate care\, provides the bite-size knowledge and tools that will enable you to make a transformation in areas that are most important for YOU to lead yourself more authentically and have more intentional positive impact on others.
