The Italian mission in Singapore celebrated on Monday Italy’s national day with a special event that drew a diverse range of attendees.
His Excellency Dante Brandi, the Italian ambassador to Singapore, hosted the event at the Pan Pacific Orchard, a newly opened hotel in the heart of Singapore’s commercial district.
“Happy birthday, Italy!”
From the 18th floor, offering a magnificent city view, over four hundred guests joined Ambassador Brandi to say, “Happy birthday, Italy!”
In his speech, the Italian diplomat highlighted the significant accomplishments achieved by both countries over the past fifty years.
The presence of numerous prominent Italian brands serves as vivid proof of this success. The Italian community has a strong foothold in the city-state, with their chamber of commerce playing a crucial role in fostering this dynamic. Ambassador Brandi’s discourse was filled with words of pride.
Guest of honor
The guest of honor, Singapore Minister of Education & Manpower Gan Siow Huang praised the longstanding relationship between Italy and Singapore.
Minister Huang acknowledged the combined efforts of both nations in the field of academics. Italian companies have provided employment opportunities for hundreds of Singaporeans. The trade exchange figures between the two countries are robust, with ample room for further growth.
The Italian embassy showcased a delectable buffet featuring all-time favorite cheeses, meats, cured cuts, and pasta, along with their unique wines. The cultural highlight of the evening was a jazz performance by the Italian band Quintetto Denner.
