The Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore will collaboratively present a traditional music and dance performance to promote the country’s cultural heritage.
The event, called A Showcase of Philippine Culture through Music & Dance featuring Parangal, is being hosted alongside Sentro Rizal Singapore and the Parangal Dance Co.
Commemorating 55 years of bilateral relations
The showcase is also part of the 55th-anniversary commemorations of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore, with support from the Asia-Europe Foundation and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Singapore.
Singapore-based Asia-Europe Foundation is an intergovernmental not-for-profit organization which brings together the peoples of Asia and Europe to address common global challenges. The OWWAS provides social and welfare programs and services.
Event details
The event will take place on July 26, from 1500 SGT to 1700 SGT. The venue for the showcase is the Asia-Europe Foundation, located at 31 Heng Mui Keng Terrace, Singapore.
The event is part of National Culture Consciousness Week, observed during the first week of July.
The week aims to enhance awareness and appreciation of the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage.
Parangal Dance Co
Parangal Dance Co, based in San Francisco, US, is dedicated to preserving and promoting Philippine heritage through ethnic attire, music, and dance.
The company conducts research, workshops, and performances to inspire and connect Filipinos in the diaspora with their roots, fostering a sense of pride and identity while educating diverse communities about Philippine culture.
Parangal Dance Co, composed of Artistic Director Eric Solano and nine other members of the dance group, along with Habbib Mohammad, a Maguindanaon Culture Bearer from Cotabato City, and Nursida Diamson, a Sama Culture Bearer from Tawi-Tawi, will be in Singapore between July 25 and 27.
Their trip to Singapore will follow their participation in the Bojonegoro Thengul International Folklore Festival 2024 in East Java, Indonesia, this month.
