South African High Commission in Singapore celebrated the country’s national day as well as the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations with Singapore.
South Africa’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Her Excellency Charlotte Lobe, graciously hosted dozens of guests at the Goodwood Park Hotel last Friday.

South Africa’s national day is on April 27, known as Freedom Day, which marks the historic 1994 elections that ended apartheid and ushered in the country’s first democratic government. The high commission’s celebration of Freedom Day was delayed this year because of the South African elections.Â
The event was timely nonetheless as Heritage Day, another important day on the South African calendar, took place last Tuesday.
More broadly, the gathering was part of South Africa Focus Week, a series of events that blended culture, food, business & trade, and networking. South Africa Focus Week was organized by the South African High Commission in Singapore and the South African Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, among others. Â
The week concluded on Sunday with the Taste of South Africa event, where guests enjoyed a selection of South African food and wine.
