Christmas is one holiday that is celebrated almost universally, regardless of cultural background or religious beliefs.

While some adorn their homes and streets, others take the opportunity to contemplate our identity and role in fostering a better planet for communal sharing.

Diplomatic Network (Asia) did not want to skip the occasion and as a way to thank the diplomatic corps and our members, both whom have supported the platform during the past months, decided to treat a few of them to a special lunch.

For that reason, DNA organised a small gathering at Luce restaurant located at Level 1 of the Intercontinental Hotel, which was hosted by DNA Director Tay Wan Leng.

The event was graced by two dynamic female diplomats. The South African High Commissioner, Her Excellency Charlotte Lobe, and the Ukrainian Ambassador, HE Kateryna Zelenko were present.

Both heads of mission shared their thoughts on the meaning of Christmas, especially in this moment when the world is experiencing different conflicts.

This is the reason why Lobe and Zelenko highlighted the importance of their diplomatic roles in peace-making.

Representatives of two international chambers of commerce, both entities and members of DNA were there. Zoe Yang from the South African Chamber of Commerce and Felipe Espinosa from the Latin American Chamber of Commerce shared the celebratory moment as well.

Soo Chye Lee, partner at Wee Swee Teow LLP, realtor Aaron Wan, and Misizwe Mtshali, director of South African Wine Cellar, were also some of the members who attended the lunch.

The wines were sponsored, as always, by Mtshali’s winery in Singapore. Three smooth South African wines were featured on the day.

In DNA’s spirit to endorse diversity through culture, a special guest was Lee Ee Wurn, programme director at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
