Diplomatic Network (Asia) hosted a roundtable on Wednesday between ambassadors from ASEAN and BRICS nations to discuss global governance and sustainable trade in the interest of food security.

Members of the diplomatic corps, business community and general public attended the packed event at hotel Pan Pacific Singapore.

The roundtable participants included the likes of His Excellency Sengkeo Pouangpadith, the ASEAN dean and ambassador of Laos to Singapore; HE Nikolay Kudachev, BRICS chair and ambassador of Russia to Singapore; HE Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe, the South African high commissioner in Singapore.

The second discussion was headed by HE Eugenia Barthelmess, the ambassador of Brazil; HE Cao Zhongming, the ambassador of China; and HE Alex Tilman, the ambassador of Timor-Leste.

The final topic was tackled by HE Ahmed Mostafa Abdelaal Mohamed, the ambassador of Egypt to Singapore, and Honourable Arunee Hiam, the deputy director-general of Thailand International Cooperation Agency.

The event concluded with food stalls, where embassies from ASEAN and BRICS had set up food stalls with traditional dishes.
